Every Citroen C1 recall
Newest first. The concern is the part or system affected, the defect is what can go wrong, and the remedy is what the manufacturer does to put it right.
THE STITCHING PATTERN USED ON THE REAR SEAT BELT MATERIAL IS NOT TO CORRECT SPECIFICATION
R/2020/355, launched 2 December 2020, 3 vehicles affected across the models it covers
Defect: On affected vehicles some rear seat belts may have incorrect stitching on the belt material to connect the buckle to the anchor plate.
Remedy: Check seat belts and relace if necessary.
THE BONDING OF THE REAR DOOR WINDOW GLASS TO THE HINGE ASSEMBLIES MAY NOT CONFORM TO SPECIFICATION
R/2018/359, launched 12 December 2018, 51,349 vehicles affected across the models it covers
Defect: On the affected vehicles the bonding of the rear door window glass to the hinge assemblies may not conform to specification.
Remedy: Check and if necessary replace the rear window or re- bond the rear window glass hinges.
STEERING COLUMN MAY FAIL UNEXPECTEDLY
R/2016/136, launched 27 June 2016, 342 vehicles affected across the models it covers
Defect: A component of the steering column may not be to specification and could fail. If this occurs there would be a loss of directional control.
Remedy: The manufacturer will contact keepers of affected vehicles and advise not to use the vehicle. Examine vehicles and on those with the affected component replace the steering column.
BUMPER MAY NOT PERFORM AS DESIGNED IN A COLLISION
R/2015/024, launched 30 January 2015, 3 vehicles affected across the models it covers
Defect: Affected vehicles may have a small defect in the front bumper frame. This may affect its impact absorption in the even of a collision.
Remedy: If required replace front bumper frame.
LOSS OF CONTROL
R/2014/173, launched 19 December 2014, 1,518 vehicles affected across the models it covers
Defect: The front shock absorber rod may have an internal fault which could cause it to brake. This could have an adverse affect on the front suspension and the driver's ability to control the vehicle.
Remedy: On affected vehicles replace both front shock absorbers.
REAR CROSS-MEMBER MAY FAIL AND CAUSE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL
R/2014/028, launched 25 February 2014, 358 vehicles affected across the models it covers
Defect: On subject vehicles a weld on the rear cross member might be non-compliant and eventually cause the weld between the cross member and the vehicle body to break. This may lead to a partial detachment of the axle and cause the driver to lose control.
Remedy: Contact keepers using DVLA and manufacturer's records. Check the compliance of the weld on the O/S/R and if necessary replace the cross member.
ENGINE MAY FAIL
R/2012/129, launched 14 November 2012, 1,169 vehicles affected across the models it covers. Also covers the C3, DS3, Nemo
Defect: It has been established that the con-rod (big end) shell bearings may not have been manufactured to specification. This could lead to premature deterioration of the shells and if not identified it could result in engine failure.

ENGINE MAY FAIL
R/2010/192, launched 5 November 2010, 72 vehicles affected across the models it covers. Also covers the C3, Nemo
Defect: Due to incorrect machining it is possible that the crankshaft is not to the correct specification which can lead to insufficient lubrication of the crankshaft and subsequent engine failure.
Remedy: Recall all affected vehicles and replace the engine.
ACCELERATOR PEDAL MAY FAIL TO RETURN TO IDLE
R/2010/012, launched 19 February 2010, 34 vehicles affected across the models it covers
Defect: It has been identified that within the mechanism of the accelerator pedal there is a friction lever which interacts with a sliding surface. Over time and under certain conditionsthe contact surfaces may generated excessive friction and latterly the movement of the accelerator pedal. This over time and under certain conditions will result in the accelerator pedal becoming intermittently more difficult to push; or slower to return. In rare instances the accelerator pedal can remain in the partially depressed position.
Remedy: Recalled vehicles will have a reinforcing plate fitted within the accelerator pedal mechanism which will ensure continued correct functionality.
WHEEL STUDS MAY BECOME LOOSE
R/2009/075, launched 28 July 2009, 169 vehicles affected across the models it covers

If you own a Citroen C1, check its registration on GOV.UK and ask a Citroen dealer whether any recall work is outstanding. If you are buying one, ask the seller for proof the work was done, and run a Motoring Insider history check for finance, write-offs and the MOT history.
