Motoring Insider Vehicle Report Terms And Conditions
These terms apply when you buy a vehicle report from Multimedia Projects Ltd, trading as Motoring Insider, at motoringinsider.co.uk. Multimedia Projects Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales with company number 05508063 and VAT number GB924114847. Our registered office is 1 Southdown Close, Kingsnorth, Ashford, Kent TN25 7AE. You can contact us at support@motoringinsider.co.uk.
In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Multimedia Projects Ltd, and "you" means the person buying the report. These terms apply to consumers. Business customers with a trade account are covered by the Trade Account Terms instead.
1. The Report And The Contract
A "Vehicle Report" is a one-off digital vehicle-information report for the vehicle registration number you give us. We sell two packages:
- Vehicle Report.
- Vehicle Report Plus, which contains everything in the Vehicle Report together with the extra checks listed for it on the purchase page.
The price of each package, including VAT, is shown on the website and at checkout.
The report may also be called a "vehicle history check", "vehicle history report" or "vehicle check" on the website or in emails. These names all mean the same report and do not create a separate product or extra entitlement.
The report contains the information described on the purchase page at the time you order, subject to what the data sources hold, the date the report is compiled and the limits in section 5. It is not a physical or mechanical inspection, a warranty, or a guarantee of the vehicle's condition, or that the data is complete or free from error. Any valuation shown is an estimate based on the data available, not an offer to buy or a guaranteed sale price.
Before you pay, the checkout shows the package, any optional extras, the total price including VAT and the vehicle you confirmed. The contract is formed when your payment is accepted and we send an order confirmation. There is no subscription and nothing renews automatically. We issue a VAT invoice for every order.
2. Optional Extras
Optional extras are separate checks that are only added if you select them, at the price shown for that extra at checkout. A valuation, previous advert listing, photo or image link is returned only where the data is available, and a result is not guaranteed. An optional extra that returns no result is not refundable. The No Information Found Refund in section 4 applies to the report itself, not to extras.
3. Immediate Supply And Your Right To Cancel
Because the report is digital content, you would normally have 14 days to cancel for a change of mind. By ticking the box at checkout and paying, you expressly ask us to supply your report immediately, before the 14-day cancellation period ends, and you acknowledge that once supply begins you lose your right to cancel for a change of mind. Supply normally begins as soon as your payment is accepted, and the report is placed in your Motoring Insider account straight away.
We repeat your request and your acknowledgement in the order confirmation email.
This does not affect your legal rights if the report is faulty, not as described, or not supplied with reasonable care and skill.
4. Delayed Or Failed Supply, And Refunds
If we take payment but cannot supply the report, we may retry, supply the information that is available, or refund the order, as appropriate. Contact support@motoringinsider.co.uk with your order reference.
No Information Found Refund
This refund applies to a paid report only, and is judged on the report delivered after payment, not on the free lookup before checkout. If the delivered report contains no vehicle details at all for the registration you confirmed at checkout, we will refund the full price of that report on request.
A report that returns some records but not others is a delivered report and is not covered. A check shown as clear is a returned result, not an absence of information, and is not covered. Please send your request to support@motoringinsider.co.uk with your order reference within 30 days of purchase.
What A Refund Does
A refund is paid to the card you used. It withdraws access to the report, its PDF and any secure links, and we issue a VAT credit note. This does not affect your legal rights.
5. Data Sources And Limits
Depending on the package and availability, report data may come from Experian, Brego, CarGuide, Percayso, DVLA and DVSA, and optional salvage photograph links from a specialist supplier. One Auto API may provide the technical connection to the commercial data services. Data provided by Experian is identified against the relevant Experian-only checks. This wording does not apply to information supplied by the other named sources.
Records can be incomplete, delayed, corrected or unavailable. A report shows the data returned at the time it was generated. We do not create or independently verify the source records and, to the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for inaccuracies, omissions or delays in them. The report is not a mechanical inspection, proof of legal title, a valuation guarantee or a substitute for checking the vehicle, its documents, the seller and its current condition.
6. Experian Data Guarantee
Data provided by Experian. The outstanding finance, stolen vehicle and insurance write-off checks within the Vehicle Report are backed by the Experian Data Guarantee. The Standard Guarantee document states a £10,000 financial limit and a duration of 12 months from the date the check is performed. The guarantee is provided by Experian, not Multimedia Projects Ltd, and any claim must be made directly to Experian. Eligibility, covered losses, exclusions, evidence requirements and the claims process are governed by the Experian terms that apply to the report. Before buying the vehicle, the customer must run the report, match the VIN on the report, V5C and vehicle, match the registration and vehicle details, check that the seller is the current keeper shown on the V5C, and confirm that a valid MOT is in place where required. By placing an order, the customer explicitly agrees to the Experian Data Guarantee terms and conditions incorporated into these terms. Claims information is available in those terms, including the Experian claims email address.
7. Your Account And Sharing
The Motoring Insider account linked to the email address you used at checkout owns the report. We do not send the report PDF as an email attachment. You can create a secure link to the report that expires and that you can cancel at any time, to share it with someone else.
8. PDFs And Secure Links
The PDF and any secure link are for your lawful personal use. Anyone who receives a secure link can open it until it expires or is cancelled, so you are responsible for who you send it to, and you should cancel a link sent in error. We may withdraw access after a refund, cancellation, dispute, suspected fraud or security action.
9. Saved Access And Records
Your report stays available in your account while we offer the service. We may remove access where reasonably needed for security, legal, supplier or operational reasons. We keep accounting, payment, refund, fraud-prevention and legal records for as long as the law requires, even after a report is removed from your account. Our Privacy Notice explains how we use your personal data.
10. Emails
We use your email address to send your report link, your VAT invoice and messages about your order. If you start an order and do not finish, we may email you a reminder about that check, and we may also email you about our similar vehicle checks. You can unsubscribe from reminders and marketing at any time using the link in each of those emails. Unsubscribing does not affect your report or your order emails.
11. Our Liability To You
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else the law does not allow us to exclude or limit, including your statutory rights as a consumer.
12. Complaints, Changes And Law
If you have a problem with a report, contact support@motoringinsider.co.uk with your order reference and we will try to put it right.
We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force when you placed your order applies to that order.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You and we both agree that the courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland you may also bring proceedings in Scotland, and if you live in Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in Northern Ireland.
