Every Peugeot 407 recall
Newest first. The concern is the part or system affected, the defect is what can go wrong, and the remedy is what the manufacturer does to put it right.
ENGINE MAY STALL
R/2011/079, launched 5 July 2011, 51 vehicles affected across the models it covers
Defect: It is possible for the engine to stall due to incorrect reading of oil levels during harsh and prolonged braking.
Remedy: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to download new software to the engine ECU.
BRAKING ASSISTANCE MAY NOT PERFORM CORRECTLY
R/2010/222, launched 16 December 2010, 24,220 vehicles affected across the models it covers. Also covers the 307, 308, 607, 807, Expert
Defect: In very rare circumstances the vacuum pump one way valve may not function correctly which could affect the level of braking assistance.
Remedy: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to replace the brake vacuum pump one way valve.
PARKING BRAKE MAY FAIL
R/2010/163, launched 18 October 2010, 510 vehicles affected across the models it covers
Defect: The parking brake may fail to hold the vehicle stationary when applied. If this defect occurs the driver will be alerted by a weak effort when moving the parking brake lever.
Remedy: The recalled vehicles will be fitted with a quality assured parking brake lever.
BRAKE PERFORMANCE MAY BE AFFECTED.
R/2009/120, launched 29 October 2009, 1,186 vehicles affected across the models it covers. Also covers the 607
Defect: Residual low pressure persists in the power braking vacuum circuit which may result in the loss of power assistance when braking
Remedy: Recall affected vehicles to fit a calibrated air vent in the vacuum circuit.
DIESEL FUEL RETURN PIPE MAY ABRADE AND WEAR.
R/2008/106, launched 16 July 2008, 2,323 vehicles affected across the models it covers. Also covers the 4007, 607, 807
Defect: It has been identified that a slight amount of play in the diesel fuel return pipe mountings on certain vehicles may over time lead to abrasion and wear of the pipe.
Remedy: Recalled vehicles will have the subject clips checked and the pipe secured.
FUSE BOX MAY CAUSE EQUIPMENT OPERATIONAL FAILURES
R/2008/094, launched 17 June 2008, 7,360 vehicles affected across the models it covers. Also covers the 207, 307, 308, Partner
Defect: It has been identified that the main engine fuse box is not to the correct specification. This can result in operating faults or the failure of certain equipment.
Remedy: Recalled vehicles will have the subject fuse box replaced.
OIL MAY LEAK
R/2008/035, launched 7 February 2008, 1,140 vehicles affected across the models it covers
Defect: A deterioration of the brake assistance may occur because it is possible for the brake servo valve to leak oil which can damage the membrane of the brake servo.
Remedy: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to change the valve and the vacuum circuit pipe connecting the vacuum pump to the brake servo.
REDUCED BRAKING PERFORMANCE
R/2008/015, launched 1 February 2008, 19,867 vehicles affected across the models it covers. Also covers the 307, 607, 807, Expert
Defect: It has been identified that on the specified vehicles a fault may develop with the brake vacuum pump. This can result in hardening of the brake pedal with an attendant loss of braking efficiency.
Remedy: Recalled vehicles will have the vacuum pump replaced.
RISK OF FIRE
R/2007/039, launched 21 February 2007, 896 vehicles affected across the models it covers
Defect: There is a possibility of a non conformity of the engine cooling motor fan unit which can result in a failure of the unit or exceptionally in local overheating that can result in combustion of the unit.
Remedy: Recall affected vehicles and replace the motor fan unit.
FUEL LEAK MAY OCCUR
R/2007/014, launched 24 January 2007, 45 vehicles affected across the models it covers
Defect: On subject vehicles the fitting of the diesel high pressure delivery pipe may be constricted. Should this be the case a fuel leak may occur.
Remedy: Recalled vehicles will have the subject pipe checked and changed if found to be fitted incorrectly.
POSSIBILITY OF FUEL LEAK
R/2006/213, launched 27 November 2006, 115 vehicles affected across the models it covers
Defect: It has been identified that on certain vehicles a fault may be present on the diesel fuel circuit return pipe at the location of the pressure sensor. In the manufacture of the pipe an excess of material resulted in a reduction of the pipe's internal diameter therefore restricting the fuel flow and a risk of a diesel leak from the fuel connector.
Remedy: Subject vehicles will have the diesel fuel delivery pressure in the injection pump checked. This will check the conformity of the pipe which in the case of nonconformity will be replaced.
ENGINE MAY STALL
R/2006/104, launched 2 June 2006, 635 vehicles affected across the models it covers. Also covers the 607

Defect: Due to a potential fault in the engine management system an internal engine fuel leak via the injectors may occur following switching off. This would result in the engine failing to restart due to excess fuel being present in the inlet manifold or cylinders.
Remedy: To address the issue recalled vehicles will receive an engine management download.
STARTER MOTOR MAY OPERATE INADVERTENTLY
R/2005/164, launched 15 November 2005, 8,615 vehicles affected across the models it covers
