Every Toyota Proace City recall

Newest first. The concern is the part or system affected, the defect is what can go wrong, and the remedy is what the manufacturer does to put it right.

  1. Water pump replacement on certain Toyota Proace and Proace City

R/2026/200, launched 8 June 2026. Also covers the Proace

Defect: Vehicles equipped with a 1.5L engine may be subject to engine failure and loss of engine power caused by water pump pulley slippage. This condition may result in timing belt misalignment and engine shutdown. The pulley may detach from the shaft leading to the loss of vehicle components on the roadway and complete loss of engine power increasing the risk of an accident.

    Remedy: Engine Water Pump Replacement

  2. Potential defect of fuel supply rail on certain Toyota Proace and Proace City

R/2026/017, launched 2 February 2026. Also covers the Proace

Defect: For certain vehicles equipped with diesel engines there is a possibility that you may experience fuel leakage from the common rail. As a result fuel leaking between the nut and the common rail cone may create fuel vapour and fuel flow towards the hot exhaust system with a risk of a thermal event.

Remedy: Check and if required replacement of the common rail.

  3. In-Vehicle Infotainment ECU software update via OTA on certain Toyota Proace and Proace City

R/2025/552, launched 12 January 2026. Also covers the Proace

Defect: For affected vehicles both displays (the multimedia screen and the instrument cluster) may turn completely black after ignition is turned ON due to a software bug. When this condition occurs the issue is permanent.

Remedy: Accept and successfully install an Over the Air (OTA) update.

  4. Inconsistent Tyre pressure monitoring system alert on certain Toyota Proace City

R/2025/447, launched 10 November 2025, 196 vehicles affected across the models it covers

Defect: For certain vehicles the indirect tyre pressure monitoring within the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) software may result in the warning light not illuminating illuminating with a delay or triggering a false warning.

Remedy: Update to the software calibration of the Electronic Stability Control unit (ESC).

  5. Engine ECU software update due to insufficient on-board diagnostics

R/2025/315, launched 20 August 2025. Also covers the Proace

Defect: For affected vehicles there is an issue where the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) may not activate in case of a fault in the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system and/or Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF).

Remedy: Carry out an update to the software of the Engine Electronic Control Unit

  6. Engine camshaft chain potential breakage on Certain Toyota Proace City and Proace

R/2025/259, launched 11 August 2025. Also covers the Proace

Defect: For affected vehicles equipped with the 1.5L diesel engine there is a possibility that premature wear of the camshaft chain may occur. Premature wear occurs primarily due to chain design which causes excessive tension in high engine speed and high engine load conditions which can lead to abnormal noise and risk of breakage of the chain.

Remedy: Inspection of the camshaft chain replace where required and update the engine ECU software

  7. Insufficient Traction battery control unit software on certain Toyota Proace City BEV and Proace BEV

R/2025/114, launched 14 April 2025. Also covers the Proace

Defect: For affected vehicles there is an error in the specific software calibrations of the traction (high voltage) battery control unit. As a consequence a false detection of the battery cell voltage and/or the battery temperature could occur leading to loss of drive.

Remedy: Update the software of the traction battery control unit.

  8. On certain vehicles there is an error in the specific software calibration of the Engine Electronic Control Unit. As a consequence the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) will not turn ON when the urea consumption (which is part of the exhaust after treatment system) is lower than target threshold.

R/2023/344, launched 15 January 2024, 1,734 vehicles affected across the models it covers

Defect: On certain vehicles there is an error in the specific software calibration of the Engine Electronic Control Unit. As a consequence the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) will not turn ON when the urea consumption (which is part of the exhaust after treatment system) is lower than target threshold.

Remedy: Update the software of the Engine Electronic Control Unit

  9. On affected vehicles due to a design error there is a risk that the e-Call automatic call back function may not work.

R/2023/243, launched 28 August 2023, 3,131 vehicles affected across the models it covers

Defect: On affected vehicles due to a design error there is a risk that the e-Call automatic call back function may not work.

  10. On affected vehicles due to an error in the software calibrations of the Engine Control Unit the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) will not illuminate when the urea injection system (which is part of the exhaust after treatment system) shuts down due to a fault resulting in non-compliance with regulations.

R/2023/181, launched 10 July 2023, 3,412 vehicles affected across the models it covers. Also covers the Proace

Defect: On affected vehicles due to an error in the software calibrations of the Engine Control Unit the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) will not illuminate when the urea injection system (which is part of the exhaust after treatment system) shuts down due to a fault resulting in non-compliance with regulations.

Remedy: Reprogram the Engine Control Unit (ECU) with updated software and calibration.

  11. On affected vehicles the AC compressor stator wiring could develop a fault leading to current loss inside the AC compressor that could result in a vehicle powertrain shutdown when driving.

R/2023/132, launched 29 May 2023, 1,709 vehicles affected across the models it covers. Also covers the Proace
